A CNC Router is a computer-operated machine. Similar to the CNC Mill, the CNC Router makes cuts into materials such as wood and metal. The CNC router is also controlled by toolpaths and directed by software such as Pathpilot and Fusion360. The CNC Router is more similar to the laser machine we used earlier in the semester. The blade moves on an X and Y plane and has a bed which the stock is laid on much like the laser.
The CNC Router in our Innovation Lab is a HS CNC Router HS48X48.
I thought it was really interesting when I discovered that there are different types of CNC Routers that can be used to cut stone and glass.
If I were to make something on the CNC Router, I would want to make a wooden Celtic-inspired wall decoration.
Something a bit like this, but with my own creative influence.
Summary.
Overall, I've learned a lot about the CNC Router and CNC machines in general. I learned that most CNC machines are directed by a software known as Pathpilot and designs for products that are made using CNC machines can be made using Fusion 360.
